Consistent Training Sessions
Equals Success
INTERNAL NOTE:
Marlene, these two paragraphs are quite similar - you gave me the brushing teeth analogy, and then I also thought of the retirement fund approach…I think we only keep one, and feel free to tweak whichever one you land on.
Our Most Important Development
I’ve been working with clients of all ages and all walks of life for over 30 years. More so than the intensity of workouts – how heavy we lift or how fast we run – the most benefit I see is in my clients who are consistent with their training.
We’re trying to establish healthy habits – just like how people brush their teeth every day. Once people establish these habits consistently, it becomes part of our day-to-day. We make an effort to do things like brush our teeth, get a certain amount of sleep, eat well – so why not make the effort to maintain and/or improve our overall well-being?
We could think of our physical fitness like a retirement fund. Showing up two or three times a week is like making regular deposits. Maybe there isn’t a massive change overnight, but that "compound interest" accumulates. Over time, those consistent deposits add up to better balance, stronger bones, and the energy to keep doing what you love.
“My gratitude for the exercise and training that Marlene provides is synonymous with the roots of the word consistent – there in the life of the body and of the mind.”
Investing In Your Mobility Provides Independence
There’s a huge difference between getting older and aging. Getting older is inevitable, but how we age is largely up to us. The single biggest factor in maintaining your independence and quality of life is a consistent physical practice. Regular strength and mobility training is the best defense we have against falls, frailty, and the loss of autonomy.
My clients that I work with consistently:
move better
more easily navigate getting up and down from the floor
travel with more ease
increase their ability to manage stress
What I’ve seen is that my clients have fewer problems with their health or are able to address their day-to-day in a much more manageable way. Their pain (if its there) is more controlled or disappears.
Across different ages, races, and abilities throughout the years, one thing that has been successful across the board is when people train consistently.
“Working with Marlene improved my quality of life.”
“Consistency with exercise training has relieved my back pain and improved my posture. The combination of the two improved my quality of life.”
